What Is the Difference Between a Regular Vacuum and a Water Vacuum?

Vacuum cleaners have been around for decades because of their efficient ability to clean modern homes. But not every vacuum has the same capabilities and uses. Shopping the vacuum market can make you feel like there are too many options, but still, none of them are good enough. The key is to find a design and brand that is up to the job of heavy use, high efficiency, and natural cleaning of surfaces and airflow without the use of harmful chemicals. This blog will break down the key differences between a regular vacuum and a water vacuum cleaner.

How Traditional Vacuums Work

A traditional vacuum uses a motor to suck air through a dry filter that removes dirt and impurities from the surfaces and air in your home. But the design of conventional vacuums has some crucial flaws. Dry messes like dirt, hair, dust, and dander are pretty easy to capture with a regular vacuum cleaner, although some rare particles may escape the filter and bag. The true issue comes when you have to clean up a wet mess, or when you add up the money and time spent emptying and replacing filter bags that are far less efficient than they should be. The bags are also messy (and sometimes, smelly. Ew right?)

How Water Vacuum Cleaners Work

A water vacuum cleaner is a bit different from regular vacuums. The main difference you will notice after trying a water vacuum for the first time is the ease with which you can empty and replace the water filter basin which captures all dirt and then passes the air through the backup HEPA filter. This process is much more effective because there is no chance of particles escaping the water and HEPA filter and re-entering the airflow. Sure 95 or even 99% effectiveness can be enough for some homeowners. But pet owners, allergy sufferers, and parents all know that 100% purification of the air can make a huge difference.

Why You Should Invest In A Water Vacuum

When you add the features, efficiency, and longevity, getting a water vacuum should be a no-brainer. But the wide array of brands and models can still make the process intimidating. Shopping by brand online can be dangerous if you don’t do your research. Using reviews, common sense, and contacting support lines should give you a feel for what kinds of business you are dealing with. The better the brand, the better your product will likely be.

Oh My Sirena!

I’ve never used a canister vacuum so that is taking a little getting used to. It’s kind of funny; my husband pointed out I don’t call it the vacuum or a sweeper. I call it “my Sirena”. It works great, I was surprised how much pet hair it picked up my first use. The deodorizer and essential oils I will definitely order more of when these run out. My old vacuum seems like a toy in comparison of how much more effective my Sirena is. It’s only been a couple of weeks but as of right now I am very happy with this purchase. Will write another review in December when I’ve had it a while. The extra hose and attachments I haven’t really figured out a good way to store it for accessibility and convenience. Any suggestions?

Best vacuum I've encountered in 16 years

Sixteen years ago I bought an Ocean Blue water filtered vacuum. It was by far the best vacuum I had ever owned, but it's wearing out now and they quit making them. I just got a new Sirena and it has all the features of the Ocean Blue plus a few improvements. If you know anything about water filtration vacs, I don't need to tell you how good they are. This one is the best I've encountered in a long time.
