Essential & Best Vacuum Cleaner Maintenance Tips For Optimal Performance

The cleanliness of your home can sometimes be seen as a reflection of your character. Keeping your home clean is also essential to your health as allergens can make living in your home impossible. One of the best ways to keep your household clean is by vacuuming. There are many different styles of vacuum on the market today and it is important to ensure that your chosen vacuum is one you are comfortable with. For optimal use, it should be maintained and cared for. A mistake that some people make is not cleaning their vacuum or maintaining it. Here are the best vacuum cleaner maintenance tips in order to keep it in tip-top shape.

Vacuum Cleaner Maintenance Tips

Attach The Bag Properly

This first tip may sound silly, but it is very common for vacuum bags to not be attached properly. Some vacuums can be difficult to maneuver so installing the bag is a task in and of itself. Luckily, some vacuum cleaners do not even require bags.

For any vacuum, it is important to make sure that the opening of the bag is securely in place on the nozzle. Check that the hooks, clips, or holders are firmly attached. When a bag is not attached correctly, dust and debris will not be able to enter the bag and instead it will go inside the vacuum cleaner. Trying to remove dirt from a vacuum cleaner is very difficult and you may never get all of it out.

Regularly Replace The Bag

One of the key factors in making sure your vacuum can perform at primal performance is to regularly replace the bag. People will often wait until the bag is completely full before replacing the bag. This is not how you should maintain a vacuum cleaner. You should instead replace the bag when it is about two-thirds of the way full. Even the best vacuum cleaner needs space for dirt and debris to enter. When the bag is too full, there is not enough space for all of the dirt and debris to be picked up, so it stays on your floor and in the air.

Sometimes, replacing a vacuum bag or even a filter can end up becoming a messy job. To reduce the likelihood of spills, you should consider buying a Sirena vacuum cleaner, which uses a water basin as opposed to a bag.

Clean The Filters

Depending on the kind of vacuum you own, there may be a filter that helps the vacuum run smoothly. Vacuums that have these filters will need to be cleaned or replaced regularly. As each vacuum varies you will need to carefully follow the directions included to clean the filters. You must also be sure that everything is completely dry before putting the vacuum away.

Clean the Brushes

All vacuum cleaners have brushes. These brushes are what captures the dirt. However, those bushes can get dirty over time and spread dirt around instead of picking it up. Hair and other debris can get stuck in the brushes making it difficult for the brush to move through carpets. You can clean the brushes by cutting the threads or other items causing the brush to get stuck.

Oh My Sirena!

I’ve never used a canister vacuum so that is taking a little getting used to. It’s kind of funny; my husband pointed out I don’t call it the vacuum or a sweeper. I call it “my Sirena”. It works great, I was surprised how much pet hair it picked up my first use. The deodorizer and essential oils I will definitely order more of when these run out. My old vacuum seems like a toy in comparison of how much more effective my Sirena is. It’s only been a couple of weeks but as of right now I am very happy with this purchase. Will write another review in December when I’ve had it a while. The extra hose and attachments I haven’t really figured out a good way to store it for accessibility and convenience. Any suggestions?

Best vacuum I've encountered in 16 years

Sixteen years ago I bought an Ocean Blue water filtered vacuum. It was by far the best vacuum I had ever owned, but it's wearing out now and they quit making them. I just got a new Sirena and it has all the features of the Ocean Blue plus a few improvements. If you know anything about water filtration vacs, I don't need to tell you how good they are. This one is the best I've encountered in a long time.
