How The Right (Or Wrong) Vacuum Can Impact Indoor Air Quality

Many homeowners are searching for a vacuum for indoor air quality control. The difference that air quality makes in your quality of life can be huge. Even if you don’t suffer from asthma, allergies, or other breathing ailments, the consequences of poor indoor air quality can still very much affect you.

The unfortunate reality is that the same tools meant to protect you from harmful intruders like dust and mold can make the problem worse. This blog will explain how a water vacuum such as Sirena can purify and humidify the air without any dusty kickback, whereas a traditional vacuum just spews dirt and dust back into the indoor environment.

How Are Water and Traditional Vacuums Different?

Water vacuums don’t need bags. That means constantly emptying, cleaning, and replacing vacuum bags is a thing of the past. Think about how much dirt and dust escapes when you are changing your vacuum bag. Not to mention the odors the bag can retain. Unlike traditional vacuums, water vacuums trap and keep every particle they catch. That’s because the water filtration basin plus a HEPA backup filter will never let them escape back into your air supply.

Cleanup for water vacuums is also a breeze. Instead of wasting time and money on bag replacements, simply dump the water basin full of dirty water and refill with a fresh batch. The most satisfying part of the process is seeing just how much dust is permanently trapped in the water basin. If a traditional vacuum were on the job, a decent chunk of those particles would still be clouding your air supply and dirtying your surfaces.

Why Traditional Vacuums are No Longer a Hit

Technology waits for no one, and traditional vacuums have simply been left in the dust by their water-powered counterparts. Water-powered vacuums like the Sirena come with multiple attachments that are engineered specifically for certain messes. A wet or dry mess requires very different approaches, and traditional vacuums are absolutely powerless when faced with wet messes.

Getting any water in your traditional vacuum could permanently damage it and even cause an electrical fire. Water power vacuums on the other hand can easily handle wet messes made by mud, snow, pets, beverages, and food. In addition to its surface cleaning modes, water vacuums like the Sirena also have air purification, humidifying, and deodorizing capabilities. They allow you to enjoy a completely refreshed space.

Oh My Sirena!

I’ve never used a canister vacuum so that is taking a little getting used to. It’s kind of funny; my husband pointed out I don’t call it the vacuum or a sweeper. I call it “my Sirena”. It works great, I was surprised how much pet hair it picked up my first use. The deodorizer and essential oils I will definitely order more of when these run out. My old vacuum seems like a toy in comparison of how much more effective my Sirena is. It’s only been a couple of weeks but as of right now I am very happy with this purchase. Will write another review in December when I’ve had it a while. The extra hose and attachments I haven’t really figured out a good way to store it for accessibility and convenience. Any suggestions?

Best vacuum I've encountered in 16 years

Sixteen years ago I bought an Ocean Blue water filtered vacuum. It was by far the best vacuum I had ever owned, but it's wearing out now and they quit making them. I just got a new Sirena and it has all the features of the Ocean Blue plus a few improvements. If you know anything about water filtration vacs, I don't need to tell you how good they are. This one is the best I've encountered in a long time.
