5 Easy Ways To Clean Your Carpeted Floors

Cleaning your carpeted floors is no easy feat. They oftentimes experience high traffic and are subject to stains and soil. Additionally, they can be quite expensive and have large pieces of furniture blocking the way. Despite their difficulty, choosing the best vacuum cleaner for carpet, adjusting the settings correctly, and treating your carpet in the most efficient ways are all helpful examples of ways to better clean your carpets.

1. Use the Right Vacuum Cleaner for Carpet

Using the correct vacuum cleaner for carpet is the very first (and arguably most important) step when cleaning carpets. Utilizing a vacuum that is designed for carpet will ensure that the grime buried deep inside the crevices and fabric of the carpet is lifted with ease. Doing so will ensure that in the later steps of carpet cleaning you are not pushing dirt deeper into your carpet.

This is why it is recommended that you use a water vacuum. Water vacuums are great at picking up dirt and dust from carpets as they do not spew the dirt right back out of the vents like many other traditional vacuum cleaners. The water vacuum offered by Sirena is an even better vacuum cleaner for carpets as it has been tested and proven to maintain 100% suction and airflow.

2. Set the Beater Bar to the Right Setting

Knowing how to use the best vacuum cleaner for carpet is another important step in the process of carpet cleaning. Beater bars work exactly as the name suggests – it beats the carpet to loosen up dirt buried deep within the carpet. However, it is not necessarily recommended that you set it to the lowest setting. Doing so can excessively tug on your carpet, causing unnecessary damage. Start by setting the beater bar to the highest setting and slowly moving it down until it begins to pull on the carpet.

3. Treat Stains

Choose a common stain remover and prepare to treat the stains on your carpet. Although the best time to do this is as soon as the stain happens, it can be done later with varying results. Before you begin, start by reading the manufacturer’s instructions on the bottle. Spray the stain with the treatment and blot it with a towel. You may have to repeat the process several times if the stain is stubborn. The Sirena Vacuum can be used to extract smaller stains. That is because it can pick up liquids and suck out the cleaning solution using the wet/dry hose attachment.

4. Consider Steam Cleaning

Steam carpet cleaners can be purchased or rented at nearby cleaning or home department stores. Like the stain treatment, read the instructions before you begin. Use hot water and the cleaner of your choosing with the steam cleaner. You should slowly moving it back and forth in a fashion similar to vacuuming. Avoid mold and mildew by going slow enough to allow the machine to pick up as much water as possible.

5. Position Fans to Dry the Carpet Quickly

After treating and steaming, it is highly recommended to simply open windows and point fans in the direction of the areas that are damp due to the treatments. Doing so will quickly dry it for use and also prevent the unnecessary growth of bacteria.

Oh My Sirena!

I’ve never used a canister vacuum so that is taking a little getting used to. It’s kind of funny; my husband pointed out I don’t call it the vacuum or a sweeper. I call it “my Sirena”. It works great, I was surprised how much pet hair it picked up my first use. The deodorizer and essential oils I will definitely order more of when these run out. My old vacuum seems like a toy in comparison of how much more effective my Sirena is. It’s only been a couple of weeks but as of right now I am very happy with this purchase. Will write another review in December when I’ve had it a while. The extra hose and attachments I haven’t really figured out a good way to store it for accessibility and convenience. Any suggestions?

Best vacuum I've encountered in 16 years

Sixteen years ago I bought an Ocean Blue water filtered vacuum. It was by far the best vacuum I had ever owned, but it's wearing out now and they quit making them. I just got a new Sirena and it has all the features of the Ocean Blue plus a few improvements. If you know anything about water filtration vacs, I don't need to tell you how good they are. This one is the best I've encountered in a long time.
