3 Cleaning Tips For Dealing With Pet Fur Shedding When Seasons Change

Having the best vacuum cleaner doesn’t solve all your problems when it comes to pet fur shedding. Getting a specialized pet hair vacuum with multiple attachments and modes is the first step toward keeping your home free of pet hair and other allergy irritants. As the seasons change, it’s also important to learn and apply certain seasonal strategies to adjust to specific conditions. It’s not just a matter of aesthetics. Studies show that pet hair can be extremely detrimental to the health and well-being of some people. Whether allergies affect you, your family, or your guests, it’s an important hygiene step for every owner of a pet that sheds. This blog will give you the seven key hacks for staying on top of any potential problems that come with the changing seasons.

Understand What’s Happening And Prepare

Your pets shed year-round, but when it comes to cleaning up ahead of seasonal shedding, there are two main seasons to focus on. Fall is known by many as “furricane” season because it’s when your pet’s body naturally starts shedding it’s summer coat. As you spend more time inside and wear sweaters and fabrics that grab and carry hair everywhere, you will feel as if you’re drowning in fur.

The other season to watch for is the spring. Just like fall, spring is your pet’s natural time to shed again. This time, they are losing the thick hair they grew to survive winter so that they can grow a thinner coat for the coming summer. On top of the additional hair, dogs that go in and outdoors frequently will carry dander and allergens into your space.

Get The Right Tools

Having the best vacuum cleaner you can afford is one of the first steps you should take if you want to keep pet hair under control. The best pet hair vacuums are affordable and worth the investment because of how much they will improve your overall quality of life. In addition to heavy duty vacuums and air purifiers, you will want to stock up on lint rollers and air fresheners for quick clean ups. Together, these tools will make up your main line of defense against the armies of loose fur that bombard your home between seasons.

Be Proactive With Brushes, Bathing and Covers

Every pet owner should have a regular cleaning schedule based on how much their furry friend sheds. When spring and fall are approaching, load up on the right supplies and get in the habit of cleaning up more often. Baths are a great way to kickstart the process and surface covers will be a lifesaver on many occasions.

Oh My Sirena!

I’ve never used a canister vacuum so that is taking a little getting used to. It’s kind of funny; my husband pointed out I don’t call it the vacuum or a sweeper. I call it “my Sirena”. It works great, I was surprised how much pet hair it picked up my first use. The deodorizer and essential oils I will definitely order more of when these run out. My old vacuum seems like a toy in comparison of how much more effective my Sirena is. It’s only been a couple of weeks but as of right now I am very happy with this purchase. Will write another review in December when I’ve had it a while. The extra hose and attachments I haven’t really figured out a good way to store it for accessibility and convenience. Any suggestions?

Best vacuum I've encountered in 16 years

Sixteen years ago I bought an Ocean Blue water filtered vacuum. It was by far the best vacuum I had ever owned, but it's wearing out now and they quit making them. I just got a new Sirena and it has all the features of the Ocean Blue plus a few improvements. If you know anything about water filtration vacs, I don't need to tell you how good they are. This one is the best I've encountered in a long time.
